My 16 valve GTi........

Here she is! a '78 MGB V8 GTi. Been working on it a few months now. Bit rusty in the usual places (Floors, Doors, Bonnet, Wings). Got big plans for her (She's called Brenda BTW) proposed spec list (student loan dependant!) 3.5 EFI RR V8, Stage 1 heads, P&P inlet manifold, Modified plenum, Bigger inj...

I've gotta say, that looks great! It's hard to get EFi engines to look "detailed" but yours look great. I especially like the intake, on mine I wont have a flap or hotwire AFM so was thinking about a 90 deg silicone elbow on the plenum and a looong and big ally tube with a stonking filter on the end...

Ratsport do a range of uprated alternators all the way upto 130 amps IIRC, might be worth looking at those if you can't get your A count down :)

I'd be interested in a set. Sexy blue looks best for me!
Thats right, don't waste your student loan on food and warmth, spend it on v8's. That's what i did
Thats what I'm doing too..........

True, I see your point. The engine is quite, er, shonky so it is mostly stuck together with the blue goo. Were on a massive budget and blue goo is cheaper than gasket sets :D Thinking about it now, it was more likely that too much was put on and its 'squidged' into the sump. Oh, i didnt build that e...

One of our engines at uni (165 BHP Pinto) had the sump hylomar'd and it created so much crankcase pressure it sucked all the hylomar off the sump mounting face and into the oil. Complete strip down and rebuild after that, the strainer was covered in the horrible stuff. Use the cork!

I win! Heheh. Managed to Weld a crankshaft bolt into the drilled plug and an old allen key into the other. Gave it lots of heat from a blow lamp and then gave it some beans. done! I will never ever, ever take out a coreplug out again without due reason
