Not a TR man, but have you tried Moss or Rimmer Bros? Guessing you probably already have.

Hi ... but for it to be usable there is more to it than just a flat plane crank like ballancer shafts. . . As with more and more power claims for rovers at the moment I have the urge to call the donkey sanctuary and report another case of cruelty  best regards Mike I wondered about that as I...

yes.. he has them made special for the Ali blocks... so they go close to full depth.... they are also cheaper than ARP and very good quality ;) only down side is they didn't have any Allen-Key hole in the end (although he did say the next batch would have it)... so I put a slit in the end of mine b...

Mine has the Offy Dual port. Not a real good performance manifold apparently, but it's ok and it is the lowest manifold. On top of that is an eddy 500 and the 2 inch air cleaner. Clears an MGC bonnet, but the carb isn't level and I had to cut the wings off the air filter wing nut lol. I slightly low...

I'd use the old trick of getting a piece of tube and putting it to your ear and listening round the gaskets and stuff for leaks. Also, I've heard of people squirting WD40 around, and if there's a leak the engine tone will drop - never done that myself though.

Chris.
Do they not have overhead cams, obviously with a completely different rocker arrangement to the usual push-rod and rocker depicted in the diagram?

Might be mistaken, but to me it looks like there is a line of weld around that missing corner. Could it just be a modified Range Rover sump?

What are the positions of the valves in relation to normal Rover heads - for the positions of valve cutouts in the pistons.

My humble, for what it's worth. I had a breached exhaust gasket once; although that made a noise that sounded like a mechanical knock from inside the car, rather than a gaseous noise. As you've changed the gaskets already though, it might be worth unwrapping the primaries to check they aren't cracke...

I had this problem on a B series engine I rebuilt several years ago. Was using roughly a 1L/1000 miles. I nearly took it apart again, but instead I kept running it and it did seem to get slightly better, but it always used some. I just used ordinary oil from the outset. I don't know what you more kn...

Am I mistaken, or does that carb look like it's gonna go on back to front? Will that matter on the dual port manifold?

I suspect your problem is the warm engine heating up the fuel in the carb when it's stood causing vapour in the carb. My MGB does this, and it is a PITA. The solution is to put an insulating spacer between the carb and manifold, depending on your bonnet clearance. I've considered it on mine, but I d...

The way you describe the big popping makes me think it's predominantly a timing issue IMHO, or leads on the wrong plugs. Go through and check everything thoroughly. But also, when you fitted the carb, what did you do RE the fueling? The carb wants about 4 PSI fuel pressure if I recall. I would say t...
