Torque to angle. (15lb/ft then 80 degrees) As I'm planning to do the bearing shell renew in situ I was hoping to avoid having to use the torque angle device underneath the car on my back.......

Rover 4.6 Conrod Bolts?

Hi

I'm after some ARP type bolts for my 4.6 conrods that torque to a specific lb/ft and are not a stretch type bolt. I know ARP do one for the the older 3.5/3.9 engine but doesn't show as having one for the 4.0/4.6 engine.

Anyone any ideas?

Thanks.

The block has top hat linings now so no dropped liner syndrome. I used Elring gaskets. The bolts weren't loose just didn't seem as tight as the stretch bolts. They were smoother to undo maybe a better phrase.... No sign of any steam cleaning.

Thanks for the ideas...... Water is definately getting in the block though as the mayo substance in the head is not normal. I've had the rockers off several times in the last couple of years and there has been no trace of the same substance. As this has built up in less than a 1000 miles (since the ...

No steam showing. It does fairly short journeys but always has done. Water is definately leaking to somewhere and with no drips on the drive and the mayo build up in the rocker it has to be getting into the engine......

Rover V8 Strange Problem

Hi I recently stroked out my Range Rover 4.0 V8 to a 4.6. At the same time I had a top hat lining job done. The veichle is a 2000 P38. The engine has done nearly a 1000 miles since the rebuild. During the first 500 miles (pre oil change) there was no problem and the fluid levels sorted themselves ou...

4.0 Crank Worth?

Hi I'm uprating my engine to a 4.6 so I have the 4.0 crank to sell. It's in pretty good condition and just needs a polish to have it looking like new. I'm wondering what's it worth. The place which is sorting the new crank/top hat linered block have offered my £25.00 off the work they are doing if I...

Sorry to res an old thread but one worth mentioning with the difficulty of obtaining original/OEM rockers now days.... The thing I've noticed on some of the replacement rockers I've recently recieved is the difference in the depth of the oil channels within the bore. There seems to be different dept...

4.6 Crank?

Hiya I've got a 4.6 crank and rods coming so I can turn my 4.0 P38 Range Rover into a 4.6. I don't know the history on the crank except it's from a 1998 P38. Can anyone tell me what the main and big end measurments should be presuming it hasn't been previously ground? I'm planning a 10 thou grind so...

Torque Of Main Bearings?

Hi

In the RAVE manual for the P38 Range Rover it says to final torque the main bearing cap bolts nearest the flywheel to 68lbft and the other 8 bolts to 53lbft. In the ARP sticky above it says to torque the ARP bolts to 90lbft. Any suggestions/recommendations on the big difference?

I thought the standard bolts were TTY type so needed replacing every time loosened. Is this not correct?
