They have a wire which goes to the 12v feed on the LPG vaporiser, so that it runs at standard (distributor defined) ignition timing when the wire is live. When you switch back to petrol and the voltage drops back to 0v, the timing is retarded by a value determined by a potentiometer in the circuit b...

 Too good to be true is just what I thought - it's a 25% increase in efficiency! I drove up in the dry, and back in the wet (so should be more drag etc created by my knobbly tires!) Journey times were roughly equal (2hrs 10 and 2hrs 20) I doubt windage was a factor as the route I take is very t...

An ignition upgrade to think about...
I run a pretty standard 3.5l SU carbed V8 land Rover Defender. This weekend, in preparation for getting my LPG kit fitted, I refitted the A&R power amp from RPI that I bought a few years ago. Now before, this made no difference, mainly because the old 35DM8 dizzy I had was totally shafted! Skip ...

Hi. With the coil connected the wrong way round, the spark at the plugs appears to jump from the outside to the central electrode instead of the other way round. Not as efficient but no damage done. Regards Denis I'm not disagreeing with you, but by that logic the X0,000 volt surge travels through ...

Cheers for the replies guys. The probe is protruding 2/3 from the end of a chemical metal 'seat' I formed in the end of the tube, and the wire is sealed all the way up with silicone. So no insulation! It has got to 95c off road but that's only because I knocked the fan thermostat fixing some burned ...

Hmmm. I'm worried now! I've set a digital thermometer probe in silicone inside a steel tube just behind the thermostat in the inlet manifold - so it's pretty accurate! Whilst driving above 30mph, the temperature never goes above 67C, and when idling my 3 electric fans keep it between 80-85C It had a...

Water Pump > Manifold pipe diameter?
As above really! I've got an RV8 from a Range Rover / P6 / MGV8 (I call it 'composite' ) One of the 2 pipes at the front that run from the water pump to the inlet manifold has a pin hole in it - but the amount of water it can shift when up to pressure is surprising  As there 2 hoses wer...
