Yup,

That's what I ended up doing today.

M6 Cap Heads (Black Phosphated)(10.9 Grade) = 14.7 Nm Dry by my reconing.

Hi there, Just fitted my new Piper timing set, I didn't get any data sheets with it. Can anyone tell me the correct torque setting for the 4 cap heads that hold the two halves of the cam sprocket together? I obviously could really do without them coming undone when the engine's run up! There's a lin...

For cleaning the heads on a budget, nip down to your local pay and play car wash, jet wash off the worst, and then give them a dose of Mr. Muscle Oven Cleaner. Wash off and bingo, almost as good as bead blasting!
