Ok, split my rv8 3.5 with a nitrous burp, and have bought a lovely 3.9 bottom end to replace it! However, my motor ran 9.75:1 cr with sd1 heads, i had the heads skimmed 20thou to use composite gaskets and all was well So seeing as the 3.9 is 9.35:1 cr, could i return to tin gaskets to return my cr t...

no its a rover DM8, with the remote amplifier since ive taken the cam out, its fairly clear its shot in a big way! there are a lot out there, so yea easy done, only down side to those later mustang axles is they are back loaders like the salisburys, at least the 8 and 9 inch axles were third memebr so you could take them out and set them up on a bench!

i priced up a stang axle, but id seen the simitar in the breakers and knew the lads, so got it for a song, same with the lsd really, ive less than £150 in it with all new bearings, seals etc, it was more the luck of being in the right place at the right time, plus its the correct width for the mk1, ...

mines not the capri axle anymore anyhow mate, its a 4ha from a scimitar, and im fitting an lsd from a v12 jag, as they are half the price and twice the strength! i swapped years ago when i broke the ford diff and couldnt get another quickly for sensible money, but thanks

yea i comp checked it early doors, it was maybe 5 psi down, but seeing as the starter was struggling to spool it over more than around 8 rpm, i figured that would affect the results sightly! the cranks not bad, thats the worst shell, some ligh scoring but its been ground 20 and 10 thou in the past r...

well i could stay with the leaves and still add ladder bars with rollers, but i sold my single leafs ages ago and they seem very expensive these days, so thought a step to coilovers a wise move. Never really thought about all that really, just thought he would check for play in the rose joints really!
