4.2 cam
Hi all guess this is the place to put a cam querie. I am building up a 4.2 for my 1988 land rover 90 it has. 3.5 at the moment which is a tad underpowered ( looses power uphill in fifth ). The engine I am building is completely standard and will run on SUs, the reason is I run on LPG most of the tim...

Hi Sidecar and thanks for the advice. I would have thought the cc of rover V8 heads would be well documented are they that much different? The use of the burette is for measuring the head capacity. I was thinking that some one could tell me that decking the head by X would reduce the cc of head by Y...

LPG likes advanced timing I am told I will only use petrol if I do a journey where I cant get LPG which will be very few if any, I go to Drumclog off roading once a year may need petrol there. The 3.5 has headman exhaust m...

Hmm thanks for the reply's yes the CR is probably on the side but its all packed away in boxes. I have just bought a 3.5 Land rover 90 withmanual gearbox and i want to upgrade the engine to this 4.2. I was going to leave the SUs because it mainly runs on gas so putting on EFI is probably not worth t...

4.2 compression
Hi All I have a 4.2 in bits ready for a rebuild the CR on these I am sure you will know is quite low. What is the best way to increase the CR, I am putting this in a defender that runs mainly on LPG. Will simply using 3.9 pistons in and using later heads do the job? I know you will ask what Cr I am ...

Megajolt map
Hi all
I have just bought a megajolt form a guy who had a 3.9 V8 discovery, I am fitting it to a 3.5 carbed Defender 90. My question is will the map off the 3.9 be okay to use on the 3.5 as a starting point.

How about this for a theory, from the V8 engine number chart 3.5 engines 37A0000 Morgan +8 9.75:1 CR EFI 37A0000 TVR 350i 9.75:1 CR EFI so the Morgan and TVR have the same number. So 3.9 engines 47A00001 Morgan +8 9.35:1 CR EFI If you look at the picture below the number looks like _7A00_05 could th...

TVR 390SE Engine
Hi All
I have a TVR wedge 390se project which for various reasons I am not going to get sorted. I have it for sale for £1800. My question is, is the engine and gearbox anything special? Is it worth scrapping the car for the engine?
