Thanks for the advice. I'm begining to wonder whether it's worth it. I've already had the engine out to free a frozen clutch, all the oil seals on on the transmission are now leaking, the brakes are probably rusted solid too.

Many thanks for your reply. I did wonder about that but from where I was looking, there didn't seem to be much chance of accessing the friction plate to flywheel join. It's such a tiny access hole. (My engine is in a one-off aluminium bodied car which could be complicating things).

I have been trying to resurrect a car which hasn't been on the road for many years. The clutch invariably sticks to the flywheel when I try to run it periodically. SD1 V8. If I switch off the engine before it is fully warm, then attempt to start 10mins or so later , it missfires due to condensation building up inside the distributor cap. Why is this and what can I do about it? Any ideas please?
