A proper engine dyno is about the only one that is trustworthy and even then the figures can be scewed. You can buy single head gaskets no problem from specialists like real steel and v8 tuner. I would recommend you do both of them anyway. I would probably get a top end gasket set as your going to have to touch most of them on top anyway to get at the heads. You could have a split hose or radiator but...

Check you have 12v at each bank of injectors if not you have a supply problem. Is the fuel pump running? Do you have a spark, no spark = no injection as the timing is taken from there. Have you connected the ECU to the - side of the coil properly? Give us as much information on what is and what isn'...
