Needle Guns

I'm totally restoring a TR6. Anyway the chassis is being welded at the moment and I'll be painting after that but I need to de-rust. Originally I thought of sandblasting (or soda blasting) but not easy to do at home and otherwise expensive. Acid dip is out due to corosion problems and a wire brush w...

Re: Is this a logical result?

My fuel is always the same - Tesco Momentum - and I measure per tank full so give or take over about 200 miles each time. I suggest my driving is generally about the same as my mpg is generall within 1 mpg each reading. I'm trying my second tankfull so will see the result next fill-up and no doubt r...

Re: Is this a logical result?

I use TunerStudio running on my laptop connected to my MegaSquirt ECU and it does just what Dave says - that's what MgaSquirt is all about. It re-maps contiinually by monitoring what is happening, records what to change based on my wideband sensor and other readings. Then you simply periodically sav...

Is this a logical result?

A few year ago having solved my cooling issues I ended up with a 75 degree thermostat. All was fine and my normal engine temp was 75 to 80 and very rarely going above that even in traffic but usually more like 75. My fuel consumption was 23 mpg. It was suggested that a hotter engine would help impro...

Re: serp belt tension

+ I made my own adjustment mechanism using a long bolt pivoted between the alternator and water pump bolts just seen in the above photo. Again easy to do and like your solution.

Re: serp belt tension

Yep, I had your set up and the belt slipped. So then I put a self-tensioner on the RHS (looking at your engine) and it made no difference. Then on this forum it was pointed out that the self-rensioner MUST be on the LHS as when you blip the throttle the pull simply slackens the belt. So I made up a ...

Re: Diff for MGB V8 conversion

I used one of the many gear / wheel calculation freebies and came up with a simple spreadsheet showing for each gear ratio the resultant RPM vs MPH as basically I wanted a car that was not screamig at 70mph. I suggest your answerr is one similar to mine. PM me your e-mail address if you want my spre...

Re: Lt77 remote gear lever

Are you sure you have not dropped something inside by the gear lever? I had the same problem on a T5 until I noticed the very simple problem stopping the gear lever moving side to side.

Re: electric water pump

There was another thread on here where so much was looked at and eventually the radiator checked and it had slugged up badly and only a few cores were flowing cool and through them. That was me - https://www.v8forum.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=14901 - and what an experience that was. In the en...

Re: Anyone got one of these?

Interesting thought. My cabinate is home made and wood with curtain sides. Also I use it outside sidtting on top of a workmate so really there is no where to earth things. Guess it is something I'll have to live with. I've got the parts to make the gun referred to above but it's waiting for the time...

Re: How many amps?

Does not an alternatr put out a fair whack if the battery is low? I thought it monitored it and varied output to suit instant load and battery replenishment.

Re: How many amps?

Dave, may not be what you are after but I'm e-mailing a spreadsheet showing the amps for each circuit on my car. I used it to calculate the fuse required for each circuit as well as how I split baanced each circuit across different fuses.

If anyone else want it, jut PM me your e-mail address.

Re: Mocal oil pump cover

When I bought a Mocal oil cooler the guy gave me a length of pipe and connectors to my own requirements and I fitted them myself - easy. They were all push fit but not possible to get off very easily. It was simply a case of going to a bin of connectors and choosing what I wanted. Cannot you go to a...
