I just refitted mine into my van, laying on my back, slid the gearbox on to my chest, heave it into place and put the bolts in, bit of grunting involved but wasn't that hard :D Third time I have done that, and I am not exactly a large bloke either! You guys need to harden up! :D Yep done that. The ...

They are running a bit of a risk with the "Weber Edelbrock" in the title of the Ebay ad, as it suggests that pile of crap is something that Weber or Edelbrock have manufactured.

Maybe an option for the LT77 would be to make a remote gearlever housing to move the gearlever forward as was done on the RangeRover or Landrover. See top pic here: http://www.ashcroft-transmissions.co.uk/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=78 It places the gearlever smack bang in the middle of the mai...

While its true the Lexus is more powerful than many RV8's, it is also a LOT heavier (and being a four cam a bit wider) and you will also have to sort the EFI system. Is the Lexus trans any smaller, and does it solve any of your issues???? What shifter do you have on the LT77? The DAF/LDV one is very...

can anyone tell me the part number of the 21 tooth green drive gear please? Or even the 20 tooth orange gear? Preferably the Landrover part number. The Landrover with the LT77S gearbox still uses these same gears, even though the drive comes out of the transfer case. Is there an online website with ...

little bit late in answering I know, but my 1995 LDV 400 (factory V8 manual) has the R5-150 box fitted. Looks basically identical to an LT77, with reverse to the left and up. Reverse switch fitted in the remote housing etc. First and second synchros knackered, will probably replace with a T5 soon! P...

Ok - I'll try that. Is it possible to buy replacement clutches - and from where? yes the clutch drive should be available separately. You really need to take the starter out and take it along to an auto electrical shop, to see if they can identify what the starter came out of originally. It should ...

a faulty clutch drive on the starter will give the symptom you describe! Next time it falters, just hold the key in the start position for 10 seconds or so. As the clutch drive gets hot, the starter will slow down then suddenly you will hear the engine being cranked over. Once the clutch drive cools...

faulty clutch drive on starter is most likely scenario. One "cheat" if you ever get stuck with this problem and need to get the car started to get home or whatever, is to hold the ignition key in the start position. After 10 seconds or so of free wheeling the one way clutch gets so hot it locks up, ...

I have a BMW E30 M3 with S14, and uses Elring head gaskets. If you have not started engine and run through heat cycle, you can quite happily reuse head gaskets. (I have done this without problems) A guy I know even reuses OLD Elring head gaskets, many times without problems! (but do so at your own r...

bin 'em then! Compression ratio on my engine was only 8.15:1, and I am running on 95 octane. Cranked timing up to 15° inital advance, and that made a noticable difference too. Have a play with timing, they are quite retarded on factory specs.

Hi, did it look like this?

I had a Daf 400 van with RV8, and found these when I removed the carbs. I left them out, and power definitely picked up.(maybe 10-15hp?) Didn't notice any adverse effects.
