thanks for your input guys.... the engine will fit in the bay with no probs, just have to figure out the mounts... thanks for the info on the merc autobox...... if it is what was suggested, then i think it would be simpler to keep the auto and jusy bolt it to the engine as stated above... is it real...

all valid points and i see your reasoning....
i now too think it will be a better idea to buy a leaf spring car after i have converted the merc to run a v8.

i am a welder by trade and i just love the look of leaf springs.....

i would like to give my merc the old muscle car look.... if you know what i mean!!!
