We mapped it on the rolling road as I'm now running an OMEX 710 engine management system. Under full load its mapped to about 0.9 lambda which is about right for maximum power. I'm using wide band lambdas. The ignition timing was done by using a rough base map and then doing sweeps at wide open thro...

mine are 4-1 and not had any probs with mine getting red at all mate. never even got red on the rolling road, mine are caprisport manifolds but they dont make them anymore. I think the pipe diameters are just too small to be honest (they also clash with the steering coloumn which isn't good!) Its a...

Sorry....I think I should have worded that a little better. What I meant was that to fit the chevy would be as much work as fitting a 32v V8 and I would rather go with the more modern 32v V8. It is a much better engine than the rover without a doubt, I just meant in principle its still a pushrod eng...

I agree with what you are saying. Professionally I am an engineer working in motorsport, and what I want is a 32v V8 running with variable valve timing, roller barrel throttle bodies, etc etc. However, the cost and time available is the problem. If I go for the 'high spec' rover engine it will cost ...

Rover V8 vrs. other V8 conversion

Hi, I've been lurking about on this forum for a while although very rarely post. I drive a '78 ford capri with a 4.2L rover v8 running fuel injection. I've recently spent a fair bit of money getting the car on the road to a point where I can go out and drive it without any problems and it all just w...

Excellent, thanks very much for your help. I think I've found one of the main problems, that being that the vacuum pipe from the fuel regulator is not connected. I'll get on it tomorrow and see if I can make it work.

right, I've finally got round to taking the idle control solenoid out. I've doused it in carb cleaner and then put it back in the engine. I've taken the car up the road and made sure its all warmed up. When I got back home the engine was idling very very very slowly and kept cutting out. I then I ga...

Bike Throttle Bodies

Has anyone had any experience fitting bike throttle bodies on a Rover V8? I was thinking it could be quite a cost effective solution to jenvey or other expensive bodies. This would be to run with an after market ECU set up such as an emerald or OMEX system. I would have thought that a pair of GSXR/C...

So, from this topic, am I right in thinking that you can't get high compression pistons for a 4.2L?

Surely there must be some uprated pistons available for a 4.2 or is the only way to skim the fire face down and pocket the standard pistons?

I see you went down the route of machining the block to increase the compression ratio - Where did you get that done? my other thought is that you had to have modded pistons anyway so what what were the advantages over just getting higher compression pocketed pistons (or is this more of an availabil...

4.2L Rover V8 tuning

I'm planning on embarking on a bit of project to try and get a bit more power out of the rover V8 I currently have. At the moment I haven't touched it and is running as standard. Its a 4.2L Rover V8 from a range rover classic. I'm running it with fuel injection which I'm planning to keep although I'...

Rover V8 Idle Control

Hi, I've not posted on here for years so I've had to re register, but last time this forum was full of useful information! I'm having trouble with the idle control on the rover V8 which I've fitted to my capri. Its a 4.2L out of a range rover LSE and I using the hotwire system and the standard ECU. ...
