Probably just a lazy tappet taking some time to pump up - sort of a "taptaptap..tap...tap..........." then fades away? If so, probably that. I wouldn't worry about it too often - the oilways in the tappets tend to clog up a little, so when it's thick (cold) it doesn't pump them up until it's run for...

Sounds a bit endy - but maybe it's not firing on all cylinders, which sometimes makes 'em sound rough as hell!

Are the plug leads in the right order etc? Rest of the ignition bits up to scratch (leads/plugs/cap etc).

Why not try a Ford smallblock V8 - either a 4.7 or 5.0 - dimensionally they're more compact than the Rover so shouldn't be too bad to squeeze in, plus a basic one will make 250BHP - which is considerably more than majority of stock Rovers - with the potential for a fair bit more. It'll weigh a bit m...

I've seen it in the flesh too - I've got some more photos of it.

The conversion was done by the previous owner, who I bought one of my cars off......

Has a 3.5, quad SUs on a boxer manifold, rolling roaded at 182BHP. Apparently one of the 'poster' cars for the boxer manifold as well..

Buy Lexus 1UZFE and be done with it. 4 litres, V8, tough as anything. Standard ones will rev happily to 7000 all day long. IIRC the factory limiter was something like 7600RPM on some variants anyway, but I may be wrong there

Insurance is just a shade under 600 quid with Adrian Flux (who I've been with some time now over 4 cars). It's only TPFT though - I'm over halfway thro my policy and changing now wasn't worthwhile :)

Lovely cars to drive, don't like passing petrol stations though

'86 Corvette C4 Tuned Port 350, standard

As you know I not long ago picked up my new daily, an '86 Corvette. I've done a good few hundred miles in it now and it's great fun, handles fantastically and makes all the right noises! I'd recently been trying to diagnose a little idle stumble that it'd had since purchase and as such had been clea...
