The engine number seems a strange format though, YPE020293, anyone know where this might be from as it doesn't align with the rover v8 engine number formats? C...

I have a completely different setup (4 barrel TBI) but similar symptoms. It felt as if the engine vacuum was holding the throttle open. I put a second return spring on and it seemed to help.l

That's what I love about this forum. I saw the subject and thought someone would be asking about changing the colour of their car with vinyl; but no it's much more practical than that :)

I just measured my dipstick as 52cm long, and the distance from the top of the tube to the bottom of the sump as 67cm. That's with what I think is a 3.9 RR sump.
