Thank you very much for the replies. The Dizzy is brand new, i've rechecked the advance it all comes in as set-up, the split pin on the dizzy shaft is all set in place, so the two shafts cannot rotate. Ordering some new 1/4 black rubber hose, from the throttle plate vac feed line to the dizzy. Remov...

Ignition Timing moving around
Hi, A couple of month’s ago, my original distributor failed, worn out, after 290,000km’s, timing was moving. Replaced with a new Lucas distributor, from Paul & V8 Tuner, no issues at all for a few months. But, its started again, fuel economy can sit around 14.9 to 16.5 ltrs/100km for 2 to 3 tanks, t...

I had the same issue on some 10 bolt heads, drove me nuts, started with oil, then water. I ended up stripping it down again, cleaned all the surfaces with thinners, new gaskets, all the outer water ways covered with RTV, same time valley gasket was fitted with blue hylomar, The two rubber gaskets we...

Hi Gents, I’ve a bit of strange issue happening with my V8. Checked all sensors & idle value with the ECU mate, all are correct and working fine. A while back i had a broken dizzy cap, replaced etc set the timing no issues, but i had to cross check the TDC mark, placed a spark plug with a bolt threa...

Hi,
After an issue with a gasket, my left bank has signs of cracking.
Any suggestions on a good supplier for a set of recon heads, stage 1, i've no wild cam just a standard 3.9EFI.
Cheers
James

Gents, Thank you for the advice, greatly appreciated! I'm going to give the RHD side bank a re-torque to the torque as indicated, to see if that gets me over the issue, until i have the time to overhaul both heads. Same time, order in some composite gaskets, should i stick with LR OEM, or Victor Ren...

Sorry my typo, just fixed it. Ok, that's whats in my kit, i hear so much about stripping threads. Just wanted the general opinion in all honesty. At the back of the block is the main water way so i feel its weeping out of the composite, then running down the back, unless the manifold is leaking wher...

Ive a 3.9 EFI Disco, around 65,000K's ago i replaced the head gaskets, with composite ones, new cam etc. Now i've slight leak of coolant behind piston 7 near the bulkhead. I torqued all the nuts down to 70 NM was th...

Discovery 3.9 EFI GCC Non Cat v8 Idle CO is high
Morning, I'm after a little advice. Recently the v8 had an idle issue, it would stall on idle when ever i put it in P/N or switched the A/C off. This was resolved by cleaning the flame trap, stepper motor etc, for good measures i reset the base idle to 550 - 560 rpm. Ive the emission test soon, CO l...

HI, Thanks for all the replies & advice. Ive had to go back to basics, as it just wouldn't turn over and run steady, only when the advance was touching the alternator, i knew this wasn't the correct position. To check the valves i would have to drain the system remove all the cables and plenum chamb...
