Anti squat geomitry does not cause binding on a properly set up 4 link Picture it: the geometry of the unequal four bar rotates the axle slightly as the suspension raise, or lowers. When one wheel goes over a bump it rotates the axle, but the other end is not rotating, so something has to flex. I t...

P.S. 250kg is that the total weight, i.e. engine & transmission. I believe the RV8 is 230Kgs all in all and 250Kgs seems light for an american engine. No, the weight for the gearbox is not included, haven't mounted it yet. 250kg is just the engine + the lakewood bellhousing. I wouldn't be surprised...

Of course the other thing is the bolts are not installed so the force is shear which goes against the principles. 250kg/4=62,5kg per bolt. I think the bolts are about 8mm thick, the threading is about 25mm deep. According to my principles (common sense) it's good enough for the load applied. :rolle...

Yes I have seen those on programmes on Sky such as American Hotroad and Chop Cut Rebuild and always hold my breath! The engines and box are probably a lot heavier than 230Kg also! Yup that will be enough. I've seen the yanks picking up engines and boxes using square plates bolted in place of their ...

Hi! I've made two drawings for adapterplates to R154 gearboxes. One to a friend which mated a Volvo B230 Turbo to a R154 transmission and put them into an Opel Ascona A. He has been driving 540hp 630nm with slicks several dragraces without problems! My project is a Reliant Scimitar with a Ford Musta...

The new bracket would be great if you were just going drag racing, but running anti squat suspension like that on a street car is not a good thing, as it binds when one wheel goes over a bump, which will either wear out your joints, or break something. Thanks, also a good opinion!! I know about thi...

Scimitar 4-link
Hi all V8-mates!! I'm restoring a Scimitar SE5/a GTE 1973. My goal is a street/circuit-track racing Scimitar with a Ford Mustang 5.0 V8 and Toyota big Supra Tranny (R154). But first, I have to make the chassis in useable condition... I have already changed all the outriggers. Now I'm restoring the r...

Let me know if you want instructions for this and I will dig something up. Yes thanks!!!!! :D :D I just got an idea, don't know if it is a good one... Apply some skin-lotion on the old arch before applying the PU foam, this will give the correct shape of the body and when the foam is dry I can easy...

Moulded wheel arches
Hi! I want to make moulded wheel arches on my V8 Scimitar. I suppose that any easy DIY kits doesn't exists for this car. Which is then the best way to get a pair of fat, round wheel arches. Do I have to make a template beside the car or is it better to manufacture them directly on the body, but how?...
