The rear port is an outlet to the cabin heater matrix. The return from that matrix will then go to the water-pump. The front port - the small outlet in the thermostat housing - is the stat bypass. Ooh, that's a tough one. Unfortunately, the manifold pretty much forms part of the coolant circuit. Coolant comes out of the front ports in the heads and into the manifold.
