edis 8 set up

Post by andyv8van »

Hi Guys,

i was looking at the setting up of my edis 8 coil packs.trying to get my head around the wiring etc

how do i connect the correct coil to the correct plug? i have found the wiring of the two seperate units but not specific to the rover firing order?

i was trying to set each coil at each side but i guess this is not possible.

Having done exactly this myself, I can answer this:

- The EDIS 8 coil outputs are A,B,C,D (I think the wiring on the autosportlabs website tells you which is which).
- It fires the coils in order, i.e. A, then B, then C, then D
- It starts with A

The Rover firing sequence is 1,8,4,3,6,5,7,2

Each coil does 2 cylinders, which must be 180 deg apart.

So:
Coil A does 1 & 6
Coil B does 5 & 8
Coil C does 4 & 7
Coil D does 2 & 3

Each coil does one cylinder on each bank, which is a bit of a pain for the HT wiring.

I ended up with my coil packs looking like this:

I think you can lay it out so the wires go left and right.

engine:
8 7
6 5
4 3
2 1

Coils
6 1 a
8 5 b
4 7 c
2 3 d

This is how I wired mine up. As you can see all the leads on the odd side are all straight. The even side only No's 4 & 6 cross.
