Rover sd1 oil pressure switch

Post by Andrewrv8 »

I've just converted from p6 timing cover to sd1, all seems fine, running great apart from the oil light which stays on. I did prime the pump and pressure gauge shows good pressure. I used the switch from my p6 which fitted ok. Should I be worried here or is it a dicky switch or just the wrong one? I'm assuming I dont have a major worry as the gauge goes up and down nicely, any suggestions?

With the ignition on, unplug the wire to the switch. If the light goes out, fit a new switch.

If the oil pressure gauge is showing normal chances are the switch has failed.
