Rover P38 canister type thermostat housing assembly
Part number is PEM101130. I was thinking out using this in my cooling system to provide a radiator by-pass when car is warming up. Had a look at one today and see that the thermostat cannot be changed as it is bonded into the plastic housing. Question is, what temperature does the thermostat open?
Taken from the P38 manual:
"The thermostat is closed at temperatures below
approximately 80 °C (176 °F). When the coolant
temperature reaches between 80 to 84 °C
(176 to 183 °F) the thermostat starts to open and is
fully open at approximately 96 °C (204 °F). In this
condition the full flow of coolant is directed through the
radiator."
I used the grey housing from the freelander as It is a lower temperature, I think 86 rings a bell?
