r/r efi inlet manifold and sd1 water pump

Post by toughy V8 »

on my old su inlet manifold there was a water connection on the back and the front and the pipe which ran under neath, and these plumbed in to my heater matrix, yet on my efi manifold there is only the pipe that runs underneath but no where for my other matrix pipe to go to on the back, yet there is a connection at the front which i have plumbed in to the water pump, but i dont know what to do with the spare pipe from the matrix

the efi manifold goes from the front, to the heater, then from the other heater pipe back to pump,
i modified my inlet manifold as this was thought to of been some of the rovers over heating problems,
i converted mine to the same as the su heater pipes are,
and NEVER had a heat issue since,
if you look at the later efi manifolds they have gone back toa similar set up of the old 3.5 efi and su manifolds.

The later EFi engines had a pipe running from the water pump to the heater matrix above the inlet manifold. it had a bleed bung in the top.

Maybe that's what you need.

Anybody got a pic of a 3.9 engine - they are like that.

Chris.

but for them you need the 2 rubber pipes to connect them to the front cover and manifold

one pipe goes to the manifold bottom left of the stat housing on the 1,3,5,7 bank side

the other pipe goes to the rear of the water pump on the front cover so you will need to check that you have the blanking plug in the unused pipe which is also on the 1,3,5,7 bank side

then from the rear of the top fill pipes just follow left pipe to opposite end on the same side and vice versa

i did this on my 3.5 to cut heat under my manifold and put more coolant pipes in direct airflow which can only be a good thing i reckon
