RV8 thermostat bleed hole

Post by adamnreeves »

On from my other thread. I have installed the JE straight out thermostat cover. I am going to install a 74celiius thermostat. I normally drill a 3mm hole in the flange at the top to allow bleed through so stop air gaps keeping the thermostat closed. Problem is the JE casted cover would cover up this hole!

Its "Stat" idea

Hi Adam, I see where your going with this problem. I had exactly that on a Ford V6 engined car once. I took the bull by the horns and drilled a 3 or 4mm ( 3mm probably best ) hole through the "gate" of the `stat. like you there was no other place to drill a hole. The gate being the plate that stops the water flow. The principle is exactly the same and it worked for me.
