shorter pump on SD1 engine

Post by andyv8van »

Hi Guys,

looking at using the shorter water pump from P6 to my SD1 engine, need to pull the radiator back to make room at front for an intercooler for my supercharger install.

1. will the P6 pump fit the SD1, how much shorter does it make it
2. will the SD1 crank still be okay to use with a change to the pulley
3, SD1 alternator mounting , will it work with new P6 pump

regards

Andy

1) Yes, and without a fan it would be about 3" shorter at a guess.

2) Use a P6B crank pulley.

3) I don't think so, the SD1 bracket has the alternator underneath and pushes it forward to match the other pulleys. Use the P6B alternator bracket as well.

There's two types of P6B alternator brackets, early for the 11AC alternator (although if you have enough room at the side of the engine you can get an 18ACR to fit) and later for the 18ACR.

I've just sold my last bracket to another member on here, but I'll look out for another one, there may be one hiding here somewhere.
