4.6 thermostat

hiya all,

Can the 4.6 v8 engine thermostat be opened.

The large plastic housing, the thermostat is placed in.

As i might want to use the housing but put in a cooler thermostat.

Have a feeling these things are sealed.

So would it be possible to take it out some how?

Intended to be sealed for life, I'm afraid. The two halves are plastic welded together on assembly. Not sure what you would use to re-assemble it (temperature, pressure, anti-freeze proof glue?) even if you can get one apart succesfully.
