header tank position

Post by Ralphh85 »

engine int he back, and rad in the front, goign to run 32mm ali pipes under the old exhaust tunnel to bring the water from one end to the other.

do i put the header tank in the front or the back? guessing it just needs one pipe goign in the main loop to fill it up by and a smaller one goign to the top of the rad/engine to take any gas out?

I would put it in the back with the engine, but put a bleed valve by the radiator.

For a header tank, yes, you connect an approx. 5/8ths pipe from the bottom into the bottom radiator hose, and a smaller, e.g. 1/4 pipe from the top into the highest part of the cooling system.

I agree with the above
And for the radiator either a bleed valve that you an open and let the air out and then seal again (If Ali Rad better to screw in a permanent fitting and then but the bleed valve in the fitting - in case the threads are damaged in the Ali) or better is a bleed line running back to the header tank - but this needs to be a small pipe - brake pipe for example and then solder up the end to reduce flow to near bugger all (1/16 inch hole sort of size!
