I know- another cooling layout question (with diagram!)

Post by Quagmire »

Chaps, apologies for yet another question on what pipe goes where but here we go.

I am running Flapper style EFI at the mo (controlled by MS). However, I will be swapping to the later hotwire style manifold as I want to be able to use more modern injectors.

I have the range rover classic type water pump with two ports on the back of it. One is connected to the pipe that comes out the front of inlet manifold (bypass?). The heater is fed from the pipe that comes out halfway back on the underside of the manifold, and then the return connects to the other port on the pump.

With the new manifold everything is completely different.

Using the diagram from the Rave manual (P38 up to 99MY):

Can I put a thermostat in the "normal" place - i.e behind the elbow, the recess appears to be there in the manifold for it.

I would then connect 10 to heater as shown, connection 12 (heater return) back to one port on the pump, and connection 4 to the other?

Would this work?

I think so- but could do with some confirmation from the collective!

Cheers

:D

I agree with you.

Don't overlook the air bleed from the top of the radiator to the header tank though, otherwise the top of the rad will slowly fill with air.....

Chris.
