Fracturing Radiator

Post by ppyvabw »

The top hose joint on my radiator keeps fracturing and leaking. Last time I fixed it, it lasted 6 months, but it has fractured again and I noticed it this morning. Theres plenty of hose so i dont think its engine movement. I think its caused by cooling and heating repeatedly.

Any suggestions?

could it be because of the plenty hose that its cracking? Might be setting up a high frequency vibration thats cracking the joint.

Well, i say plenty. Its about a foot in length in total with a solid piece in the middle for a filler nut.

Ile try and get my webcam out the window tomorrow and take a pic.

Might be caused by excessive pressure in the rad causing the metal to flex. I had a Series Land Rover rad that used to crack on one of the corners. I kept soldering it, but after a few cycles it would crack the solder again.
