MK2 Granada v8?
Hello all Im new here and in need of a bit of advice...
ill bring you up to speed, i have a granada mk2 which was originally a 2.8 ghia x, now the old 2.8 has gone in favour of the 24v cosworth, which has taken around 18 months to get running ( new baby ). During this time i've had lots of various problems as you'd expect but the 24v still wont runs smooth, pops and bangs and quite frankly i've had enough.. cant find the little sensor or wire that is causing problems.....
so i've got on the idea on the rover 3.5 v8 on carbs, with a auto box if i can.
so after all that here's the question, does anyone know of a fitting kit for the engine, i have seen kits on the net before but for the capri 2.8, and seeing as the capri uses the same engine as the granada, will these fitting kits be useable for my granada?

Mine was a RV8, with LT77 at first.
Fit was fairly easy, nothing major needed done. SD1 engine mounts with rubber removed, and a typical round Ford bobbin style mount used instead.
Trans mount obviously needs re-worked to suit, and gearstick hole needed adjusting for that box. No idea what autos are like though.
Cant advise on exhaust manifolds though, as mine was always turbocharged.
Tunnel or front crossmember were not cut.

Obviously pick one with the shortest accessory drive ( water pumps are very long )
I dont see height being an issue, other than the hight of the carbs. Mine used a Holley for a while....air filter hight space would be limited, although mine was turbocharged, so didnt have an air filter on top of the carb.
I later switched to fuel injection. I doubt you would have any height issues with a typical RV8 fuel injected setup.

need some more advice, seeing that a v8 is going (hopefully) in my granada, i think that twin exhausts are a must
so i want to remove the fuel tank and put a alloy fuel tank in the boot, but knowing knothing of this, are there tanks for efi and non efi (i want su's)
and what about such things as the fuel sender and m.o.t laws.

TBH, If I was doing it again, I'd buy one of the plastic style fuel cells available. I had my alloy tank custom made, and it was bloody expensive. It was a good job, but they did not make it exactly how I wanted it. Its 75 litres volume, but given how they made it with an internal collector, instead of a collector/sump. I can rarely let it run below 15-20 litres, as I dont want to risk pump damage.
There are various senders available. My Granada gauge was about 10ohms empty, and 65ohms full. Oddly, the tube style sender in mine works perfectly out of the tank, but once in tank, only works as far as a little over 1/2 full. Above that it still sits at half....no big deal though. It works enough for me to know when to fill up.
No idea why it doesnt work properly in-tank....very odd.
Efi and carb are very different. But a proper fuel cell will have good internal baffling, a fuel collector, and you could even get it with an in-tank pump, which can save hassle.
Efi systems must always have a good supply of fuel available for the pump, whereas carb setups arent quite as fussy, as they have a little reserve in the carb itself.
So the odd draw of air now and again isnt a big deal.
Its also a good idea to remove the rear seats, and form a metal bulkhead isolating the boot from the cabin ( refitting seats afterwards of course )

Although going the Alloy route, does leave a little more flexibility in terms of filler location etc and pipes, as it will be custom made.
