Thanks XR.
You Ford boys have one hell of a big show to put on dont ya!
I got on site at 8.30am and the only room to park was past the finish line.
I saw Ian and his Tina, and two lovely Early Fords, think they were Prefects.
I had a laugh with my son for his last run. I knew the engine was damaged so I stuck 150 jets in and set the timing to normal advance and dropped the build time on the controller to 3 seconds with a 50% start. And I didnt tell him. He had been running 13.3's and 4's at around 108 and 109 mph all day. It melted a piston, but he coasted across the line after shutting down at 3/4 track with a 13.1 at 87mph. So he got a PB time if not an mph PB.
A great day out.
Now I have to bung some more pistons in ready for the next day out.
I love this V8 lark....

I heard your car on your last run, sounded has as a hard thing , the track was good earlier in the morning which allowed me to run a Pb 1,66 60 ft which i was rather happy with, but it sounds like the engine will be out for the weekend for a quick freshen up.

Your launches are wild mate. I'll never launch like that with the autobox, until I upgrade to a 400 and transbrake. But I'll persevere with what I've got. I'm saving my spare box, engine and axle for a new Ford project which may be ready for August 2008 if I'm lucky. A non road legal fun car it will be.
I must admit, I was surprised I didnt snap another shaft. But on close inspection, the one that snapped did have a manufacturing fault anyway. The shafts I'm using now are second hand from an 1800 MGB (same shafts anyway) and they seem fine at the moment.
I'm hoping to have mine ready for the Redline weekend. Maybe see you there.

You seem to be getting faster, you will be in the 11s soon
Its not the half shafts that normally break on MG axles, it spits the spider gear pin out
Ford project???? seen the light then, Alleujah, Tell us more
I am not going to do the rings yet, it will have to wait until the end of the year, unless the problems get worse,
I think the next time I am out will be at Shakey on the 22nd, OSF DRC day, you need to try the traction there, allways seems far better than the Pod

I've just got my MGB stripped and ready to pull the engine out tomorrow for the piston and ring change. Also found a nasty high spot on the oil pump when I tried it with the priming tool. Have also half knacked the new cam/ oil pump cog I only put in a few weeks ago, bummer. They are 50 quid a pop. I have a whole spare V8, a spare Th350 and converter (brand new) and a spare MGB rear end with springs. I also have a 15 year old Fiesta that needs a V8 installation. Seems simple to build a non road legal fun car, but I already see the steering rack is going to be in the way. I need to think about beefing up the suspension etc.
I'm giving myself 15 months to get the Ford ready for testing.
But I really need to sort out the MG for the 12th / 13th May.
I'm still waiting for parts to finish the 4.6 so I might as well give the 3.5 another hammering eh?

Had my own personal best on the same day using Perrys car...
13.2 @ 108mph. Although he had me on "Novice level" nitrous settings.
Current personal best in my own car is 18.7 @ 72mph under 4 cylinder power. With my new V8 going in on saturday i'd like to get down to the low 15 second bracket. Guess i'll find out in july!
