I pulled a 12.49 @ 114mph at the Pod today on my first run.
Then tweaked a few settings for run 2, and at the 1000 foot marker the engine blew, but she still coasted to a 12.46 over the line. That was my 11 second pass in the making I'm sure.

I'm happy!!!

He He!!
There are plenty to go around Ian.
But today has confirmed some of my theories regarding fuel distribution in my RV8. Time to go direct port injection I think.
I'm just so keen to see how much a bog standard 3500 will take. The bits are so cheap its worth the testing I think.
But I am now seriouisly thinking about fitting the new 4.6 and continuing the R&D on the 3500 when its in the Fiesta..
Good job my pistons are only 13 quid each eh???

Thats a shame that your engine let go. You might of been somewhere near your targat.
I managed 2 personal best runs today. I ran a 11.7 without gas then i ran a 10.7 with gas, so i am quite happy.

Time for the update.
I went to the Pod on the 13th oct and did some shakedowns and the new engine bedded in fine. Ran mid to high 13's off gas while taking it easy.

On Sunday the 14th Oct I stuck a 50 shot on and bagged 12.25 and 12.26 on the first 2 runs.

I upped the gas to a 90 shot for run 3 and she launched well but lost power in 3rd gear. The bloody bottle had run dry!!!

Then there was no time left for another run by the time I had got a new bottle on and up to temp / pressure.

So I'm going back next Sunday 28th to see if I can do any better.

Time is running out for 2007 so I'm hoping I may just pip that 11.999 before the end of the year.

Update!!

I ran a 100 shot on the new engine last Sunday with a 30% start and a 3 second build time and bagged a 12.08 second pass. Traction was crap due to the cold. But I'm well happy with the new time.

Roll on 2008!!!

Thanks mate.
I was a bit gutted not to hit an 11.99 but the harder I tried, the slower she went. One run was fantastic, slewing side to side due to lack of grip right up to about 85 mph. I knwe I should have pedallied it, but I thought sod it, its going to be a crap run, so i kept my foot in and had some fun.

Too true Jago.
If you know you have lost it at the start, you may as well showboat for the crowd eh?
I'm hoping to have a couple of vids from the last outing. One of them should be my 12.08 pass if I'm lucky.
