Hi , I have the chance to buy a N reg 95/96 Rover V8 engined camper van
Will it be OK to run on LPG ? are the valves and valve seats suitable to run on LPG or will they burn out quickly
I am not sure if its fuel injection or on carbs , tried to contact the owner but no reply to my email yet
Any recommendations as to weather carbs or injection is best
anyone have and mpg figures for a V8 rover on gas ?
I converted a Type 4 VW van on gas and it ran quit well , it was injection , had to fit a emulator into the injection harness to get it to run without opening the injectors , it would start and run on petrol until the revs went over 1500 then swich to gas automatic
sorry there are so many questions
will it be ok ?

Yes its a ex police LDV vanChrisJC wrote:What vehicle is it?
If it's an LDV / Leyland Daf 400 series, then it will be a carb. They never fitted EFi as standard.
I get about 14-15mpg on LPG from my 200 series V8.
It will also be 3.5.
Chris.
so is will it have the correct valves and seats for lpg ?
thanks
It will be fine on LPG.
The only question really is that it might be a low compression engine (maybe 8.13:1) which won't really get the most from LPG. I am running 10.5:1 to improve matters somewhat.
The compression should be stamped above the engine number on the block by the dipstick tube. In fact the engine number will identify the engine as well.
All the V8's (or at least all this side of prehistory) have had valve seats that are OK for LPG.
