Well it starts and runs !!! So thats one good thing. Now its on the trailer for a whole weekend at Santpod. I'll be there with a bunch of my nitrous mates. One of them will surely get his cortina into the 8 second bracket if all goes well. He's also hoping to drag the Tina kicking and screaming out of the 150 mph area as he wants to see it hit 160 on the 1/4 mile this weekend :)

Well I'm happy so far!!

Not as quick as I want it but with only 7psi of boost she ran a few 11 second passes. 11.7 seconds on the 1/4 mile is a whole 1.1 seconds off my nitrous PB. But then I used to run a 300hp shot of nitrous.

She seemed to walk gently off the line but the best 60 foot of the day was 1.7 where I used to make the 1.5's regularly. So all in all not too bad.

I'm now thinking I'll pull the top off and drill the manifold for 8 injectors so I can use a direct port nitrous injection setup with maybe a 100 shot to get me off the line real quick and run this to the 1/8th mile marker as I shift to 3rd gear and shut the gas off so I can finish on the blower ??

Here she is in all her glory waiting for a "no burnout" test pass last weekend. All in all I'm kinda liking the general stance of this old MGB ;)

Looks 8-)

Did you use any ignition retard?
Do you know what AFT you were running at 7psi?

Off to a great start and still more to come.
Will be following your progress closely as I'm hocked and to be honest a little green.
Look forward to see you on the rollers.

Perry,

See if you can pick Steve Wells brain, he is on Facebook, he used to run carb and petrol on a 4.6 with 4-71, we always ran a petrol methanol mix on the 3.5. It never liked a lot of timing, around 24 degrees locked from memory, but the more fuel I gave it the better it ran, we also ran an 850 Holley, blowers don't like restrictions upstream. Finished up with jets drilled out to over 4mm on 50% Methanol, idled and drove at low speed like a stocker, never went past 130 except one time in really good air it made 136. The injection removed the restriction and it then ran 140. Pretty sure Steve got deep in the nines before going injected. Nice guy and a great car to watch, Orange Pop pick-up pulls 45 degree wheelies.

Alan
