We looked into charge cooling for out formula racer at one point... to be honest the extra weight and cost didnt seem to be worth it. the money was better spent elsewhere....
for example... run it on bioethanol (80% last time i checked). thats what we opted for instead. its not hugely expensive to buy and you can run a air fuel ratio of up to 4:1 (ie very rich) for a big charge cooling effect. even at stoich the ethanol has a significant cooling effect when it evaporates. all you need is larger jets/injectors. only problem though is that it does like to eat though ally components, so more regular replacement of fuelrail/pump/goodridge fittings etc is needed
if you end up with an intercooler though (air/air) you can fit washer jets pointed at it which cool it further (as the water evapourates off it) and is only a few quid to setup
