AFR results from this weekend

Post by mgbv8 »

I fitted the Zeitronix wide band kits on the V8 just before the retro show.

I didnt have time to get it on the dyno so these have proved really helpful.
I set the idle mixture easily and on my first two test runs on the blower at 12 psi she ran 11.3 on both banks at full throttle under load for around 6 seconds.

Now I need to download the software so I can log stuff. I also want to add in some sort of rpm logging device.

Initial results with this kit have impressed me. And saved me a dyno session for making sure fuelling was safe. :)

Is this on a 4 barrel?? I thought that each side of the carb has an I put to both banks? If so how will you tune each bank?
Spent so much on trial and error!

It is on a 4 barrel with a single plane manifold and a 4/71 blower.

Believe it or not the idle screws do make a difference on each bank as the blower takes the charge and runs it down the sides of the casing into the manifold. And to a certain extent the blower pushes the inlet charge forwards in the manifold.

The main reason for the twin setup is so I can set alarm limits on each exhaust so I can shut of the nitrous if anything starts to run overly lean or rich on either bank during a run on the track.

I can then look at the log to see which side caused a problem if the nitrous shuts down.

You can get stainless steel MIG wire, it welds a bit 'different' to mild steel but its OK. (Assuming here that you have a stainless boss)

I've welded in quite a few now and unfortunately they sometimes distort a bit which makes the threaded plug a bit tight, the last thing you need on an exhaust bung. In the end I bought a thread chaser off ebay, this worked a treat.

You might have been better going for Tech Edge. Some versions include a tach input for logging purposes. And much more.

I know the Innovate stuff offer logging for almost anything with a wide range of add on bits.

RPM can be taken directly off a coil output or an inductive clamp, much like a timing light.

Zeitronix are bound to offer some way of doing it too. Probably best to email them

Good idea Stevie :)

Dave!
I dont know what DUNK is ??

The exhaust is mild steel and the bosses are stainless. I brazed them into place with the oxy propane kit and high silver content solder.

Actually, for logging could do well to consider something like Race Technologys DL1

For many reasons. Not sure if Racelogic offer anything similar.

But it can log a variety of inputs, it should accept a coil trigger of some sort. But it also has GPS/Accelerometer logging

I use their old AX-22 for messing about with and over any 1/4's, and distance etc etc it's accuracy is pretty much spot on. Even down to 60fts.
So it would give you a lot of valuable data when it records all your runs.

A quick glance it could also record wheel speed inputs if you added them. Again handy for viewing wheelspin etc.

Or in your case with an auto, maybe also torque convertor slippage or something ?

I've been reading the paperwork with the stuff and it says I can log a tacho signal from coil, cam or crank sensor with no adaptors needed. I better get reading some more I suppose :)
