Exhaust manifolds - what are they?

Post by ChrisJC »

Hi,
My drivers side exhaust manifold is about 1/2 inch from my power steering box. In hot weather it overheats the PAS box. I have std. Range Rover single exit manifolds.

Somebody else has a factory Rover V8 install in an LDV 400 series with PAS, and it has exhaust manifolds that I don't recognise:

On the RR manifolds, no. 2 drops down to pass underneath the no. 4 exit. These manifolds have no. 2 staying high up and collecting no. 4 as it goes past.

Any idea what they're from?, are they LDV specials?

Thanks,

Chris.

Hi chris, they look like old P5B manifolds, dammed if i can find a pic of them anywhere, there almost straight and the end, exit at 90 degrees going straight down to the floor, not very good for flow, john
So thats where it went !

Hi Chris,
Are these manifolds centre exit , or rear exit ?
I think that I may be able to help.

Ah, well, that I'm not 100% sure about.

To be a straight swap with the manifold I have fitted at present, I need centre exit.

Chris,

have you considered heat shielding instead?

Cheers,

Ian

I will probably do that as well, but what I'm trying to recreate is how LDV did it, as they have no heatshield.

I've also only got about 1/2 inch gap, not allowing for engine movement!!

I'm hoping the forum member on the LDV owners forum who kindly provided that photo above will get a photo of a set on an engine out of the vehicle.

I don't think I can get a part number, but I will ask!

I should be sorted - JRV8 has a pair of LDV manifolds that he's selling me.

When I get them I'm going to take some pictures for ref. and put on my website.

Interesting. They would be OK too. But they aren't quite the same as the LDV ones!!

When I get them I'll post some pics.
