Bosch 044 pumps

Post by JJMclure »

Been looking at the above on fleabay and found one for 87 plus postage which seems a fair bit less than anyone else, is there a way to tell if its kosher or a knock off?

I have some cheap knock off on the car ( about 50 quit incl P&P) and it holds fine.
Its even on overrun as I only use 1 bar max ( 0.2bar on cruising ) and the rest gets bypassed back on the return hose.

Its on for 6000 mile now where a genuine big name brand high dollar let go already after 500 mile cause it got overheated by not getting pressurised enough ( so it keeps running high revs..).

Use one on my turbocharged carburated Capri.
The pump still does 6.5bar while testing it.

Ensure you have a 10 micron post pump filter, so if you cheap pump does destroy itself, it doesn't ruin your injectors.

I've paid around £120 for my 044's in the past, not really sure how you are supposed to spot a kosher one though.
