rocker baffler!

Post by bak2burbles »

Hi...anyone help?...replacing early range rover heads on an engine I'm "budget" rebuilding with efi heads I got seperately. I've bought new rocker shafts & rockers but cleaned up & used the old pedastals, springs & washers & all seems ok.
On the older heads the rocker shaft had a baffle plate bolted to each, In the sd1 haynes manual theres no mention or pic of such at all....
So my question is... baffle plate on or dump it? & does it make a difference?
thanks for any info..

separate plates were used on the early engines (curved covers) but were part of the rocker covers from SD1 on (square covers). If your using the early covers then you would be advised to use them or you will get a lot of oil up the breathers.
