Well Its official, my SoopaDoopa grpA cam is past its best   spent an hour up the garage with a DTI and come up with these figures

In Ex
1--0.326--------0.318

2--0.329--------0.333

3--0.317--------0.323

4--0.333--------0.323

5--0.332--------0.320

6--0.322--------0.323

7--0.319--------0.328

8--0.325--------0.330
I am fairly certain the lift should be 0.333 on both sides, so its worn 17 thou on one lobe and many are worn more than i would like,
plus there is some pitting on tip of 2 lobes so they are starting to break up, the lifters are also starting burr over so you could feel a couple dragging as I pulled them out of their bores,
Time for a change I think,
I did get the Kent 256M in the other engine, so that's a possibility, as anyone used one with success, as I have heard things about Kents that don't fill me with confidence.

Ian :D :D

Hi Ian
If you can get the dial indicator on the good lobes (you seem to have a good inlet and exhaust) and plot it out I am sure you could get a replica made (you may even find it on comp cams or isky's web sites).
sorry if I am teaching my graney.......
Best of luck

Hi Ian,

If you know the cam I guess its worth seeing if someone could grind you a new one.

David Newman cams? Did some bike stuff for me, cams & rockers, was cheap and good at the time. Cheaper than s/h parts... Was a few yrs back though.

Newmans should be able to grind me me a new one, I used to know them very well in there when I played with Crossflows, still ran a 12.6 earlier in the year with the compression down and a shagged cam, wonder what it will do when fully set up

Shoulda said they repaired/reground cams & rockers, don't know if they still do that.
12.6 shagged, should be nice with non-shagged cam then eh :)
