Hi, can someone tell me what the timing should be on a 4.6 v8 I have set it with the timing light to 10 degrees before top dead as with the 3.5 is this correct? regards David.

Need more info :!:

What are you running? induction/heads/cam/ignition?

assuming your running a fairly stock set up with a distributor, sounds some where near, maybe 8 degs BTDC might be better?

Thanks for the the reply first I have to apologies, its a 5litre griff engine with dellortoe carbs, mallory electronic ignition and big valve/ ported heads I dont have the exact figures for the cam but it is pretty wild, hope this helps regards David.

A ballpark answer is: if it pinks under hard acceleration, back it off a bit.

If it don't, then tweak it forward a bit. :twisted:

Of course, someone who actually knows what they are on about will step up to the plate shortly to give you a proper answer. :D
