Sorry for the questions Tony, but are you running solid or hydraulic lifters now, and how much drivability are you prepared to sacrifice? Looks like there's a few hotter-than-285 options here, maybe a 190-F or S190-A/B?: http://www.camshaftshop.com/camshafts/v ... -camshaft/
We've already talked about it, but I do reckon the heads will want some work to really make use of the extra lift. I guess if we're going big, we should do it properly!
I'll give Kelford a call when I get my cams back in a few days...

im running hydraulic at the moment mate,
i was going to be running a crower cam as my piper must be on its last legs now, so was going to get a similar cam or better for now to go with my heads so i can still have some fun at the track until i rip into the engine for some serious mods later on.
drivability wise still want to be able to drive her to work and shows etc as thats what the cars for, no point building her if she has to sit in the garage or on a trailor to the track.

Hi Tony
The stealth cam from V8Developments may suit your engine too.
Quote from Rob:
lift 486, dur 281, lca 114
26.5/74.5/74.5/26.5
overlap 53 deg
These figures are quoted on a .oo4" checking height
The cam will run without cutouts in the pistons.
It is running in my 4.6 and I am happy with it. The price is decent too.

If its the money, I am pretty shure Nigel is willing to make you some sort of deal.
I know for shure now..............blowers rule, If the boost start......oh man the the experiance is awsome, the higher the revs - the faster the acceleration
My 50cents: think again, sleep a few nights and re-consider.
If its your sponsor, Look for an other one ( guess who I am talking about, atleast you can always trie if he is willing too sponsor you ).
Maby I sayed to much about him but by our experiance: he's the man.

Couldn't you strike up a deal with one of the v8 shops to have your heads modded in return for some free forum adverstising and promoting? Maybe a banner or pop up link to their site when entering the forum?

as i dont want my charger through the bonnet i want mind under it, eg a vortech etc, so under the bonnet needs moving about and brackets made etc,
BUT my garage has no power, so its limited when i can work on the car, and dont want to have next year like this year when racing starts and car is immobilised in the garage again, i want to actually race it next year and have some fun,
I had spoke to Nigel yes, but the 2k was out of my pocket at this moment and think that would of endded in a defo divorce,
thus why opted for a cam change as that can be swapped and set up in a weekend,

Is there a cam that would make the most of a 150hp gas shot?
Maybe setting up your engine to work better with high nos use?
Port your own heads? Stage three valves sets are cheap enough and getting the seats cut to suit doesn't cost a massive amount. I know i'm going away from the beaten track and the question you asked but as its always been pointed to me on the forum (and rightly so) its all about heads with our engines.
Regards to cam i say go with the Crower 50232 that i have, its wicked!
You could always save up for a set of forged pistons and go silly with nitrous then giving you stevie speed!
Changing your axle ratio would surely knock a very decent amount of time off your 1.4 mile. If a mk1 escort can do an 11sec pass with a 2.0 sierra engine with less power than yours then theres no reason why you can't very close to it. They run 3.77:1 axle ratios or higher. food for though.

I agree with this one, trie a Capri 2.0 one with 3.44:1 ratio there should be plenty of those.ihatesissycars wrote:

But you have to swap your LSD into that.

Right have been looking at the Crower 50234 cam,
any one else tried this????
and does anyone know if i will need valve cut outs in the pistons?
my present cam, piper 285 does not.
and also going to a 3.44:1 diff with LSD later this year....
