Location of DAC1861 Diode Pack
Hello - can anybody tell me where the DAC1861 Diode Pack is located on a 1990 4.2 Range Rover.
Thanks
Thanks
Re: Location of DAC1861 Diode Pack
Any idea what it's for. I've been looking at the Land Rover electrical manual which gives component locations, but there are a lot of diodes!

Re: Location of DAC1861 Diode Pack
Not 100% sure if it is but could it be under the drivers seat with the EFI relays?
Re: Location of DAC1861 Diode Pack
Hi - many thanks - it's a safety mechanism to ensure fuel is only delivered when the engine is running. Pauls reply indicates that it's under seat is consistent with other info I have but the chap whom I'm helping doesn't think there's a socket there for it

Re: Location of DAC1861 Diode Pack
Not under the seat according to an American workshop manual, but then again it doesn't mention the component at all1
Re: Location of DAC1861 Diode Pack
I can't tell unfortunately. My copy of RAVE is 1995, and there is no mention of a diode pack in the fuel pump / inertia switch circuit.

Re: Location of DAC1861 Diode Pack
Why does Rimmer list it as "steering module" diode pack ?

Yes, if it's like any of the RHD rangerovers I have had.
Re: Location of DAC1861 Diode Pack
My Haynes manual is at home but I won't be home until Easter if it does have anything
Re: Location of DAC1861 Diode Pack
I am not sure what you mean about there not being a socket there for it, as in there is no diode pack currently in the vehicle and he wants to add one or it doesn't look like there is one the same amongst all the other relays?
I never stripped out my 1990 so having trouble remembering, but I am sure there were quite a few relays under the seat in that one, the 1988 only had 3 from memory. It may not be a red casing if it has been replaced before.
Re: Location of DAC1861 Diode Pack
Hi Paul. Googling the fault indicated that it could be that this diode pack has failed. So I infer it's present on the vehicle....somewhere!! The 'no socket' comment is that the info indicating it sits somewhere close to the Fuel Pump relay is inaccurate.paul c wrote: ↑Mon Apr 03, 2023 6:40 amI am not sure what you mean about there not being a socket there for it, as in there is no diode pack currently in the vehicle and he wants to add one or it doesn't look like there is one the same amongst all the other relays?

Yes Steve - It's listed as that but the rimmer bros page does state multiple applications and shows 'Rover V8 EFi Electronic Components' as one of the applications for the part.stevieturbo wrote: ↑Sun Apr 02, 2023 5:11 pmWhy does Rimmer list it as "steering module" diode pack ?

If you click on the EFI link, it shows a picture of the EFI parts including the DAC1861 (Number 72)
Interestingly, it states 'non-catalyst' which could explain why it's not mentioned in the USA version of the workshop manual. Or did the UK 90's model have cats? I'll ask the owner.
Thanks Paul. It might just have the answer!!
Re: Location of DAC1861 Diode Pack
The 'flapper' type EFI system had a diode pack, but that was never fitted to the 4.2 litre engine as far as I know.
It sits next to the main relay and fuel pump relays next to the ECU, which I think is under the drivers seat.

Re: Location of DAC1861 Diode Pack
DAC1861 diode pack/steering module was only fitted flapper 4CU EFI. Located next to the main relay and fuel pump relay.

4.2 is hotwire 14CUX and does not have this diode pack.
