Which axle???

well we will see Mike,
i just want to get the axle in and the charger on and running,

for this coming year we are going to run on the leaf springs and home made caltracs,
we will look at 5 linking the car next winter,
to be honest we are taking to much on to get the axle work done, the 5 link the charger and intercooler by march.
So for the first RWYB around April 2011 we shouyld have the cappa out with a 8.8 mussie axle, and the 4.6 will be blown (not in bits as in forced induction, then in bits )

Yup am collecting the axle this sunday morning,
now i can start the rear end upgrade

before moving onto the charger,

yup no doubt the gearbox will let go, flippin hope not as its a new R380

A few pics of the axle after we collected it From Ray Harris today at 9.00am, (and god he has a nice supercharged v8 cappa),
got back to caprisport at 1.00pm due to problems on the M25 (not us, was other cars not staying on the funny black stuff)
the pics below are of the axle as we left it at 6.00pm tonight.

Mussie 8.8 diff with capri diff cover to the right,

Factory brackets that need removing,

8.8 diff with LSD

Right guess we best lose these,

Let the work begin,

mmmmm thats better, just need a clean up now,

Looking a bit better now,

Ready for a trial fit in the car,

Had a quick measure up today,
and bugger it i need to shorten the axle to fit under the arches of the cappa,
or buy new wheels

mussie left cappa right

dont the cappa shafts look weedy

not sure what to do now,
getting it narrowed is near on £650 from ARRC,

What length are the new shafts ?

And as I said, just shorten it yourself. If I can do it, anyone can !! ( although I widened...makes no difference. )

In fact, forget shaft length. What distance flange to flange is the new axle, and what is the old ?

That's what matters as opposed to individual shaft lengths

OR,
could i shorten this in front of the back plate bracket by an inch here, (these are being changed by caprisport to suit there brake setup),

and get a set of inch shorter shafts and keep the c clips?
is there enough room in the tube if shortened for the bearing still????
