4 link kit for rear live axle.

4 link kit for rear live axle.
I'm wanting to make a home brew 4 link kit for the live axle on my MGB.
Real Steel do a basic kit that requires welding.
Has anyone done this sort of kit before?
I can make up the brackets to fit the arms to the floorpan of the MGB no probs. And I can weld the brackets onto the diff casing. I'm just concerned about the stress that is put on the front spring eye mounts when I do a hard launch. She nearly lifts one front wheel as it is. The car and the springs were not designed for this really so I dont want to break anything.
I'm assuming I could weld the brackets onto the diff case and then fit the arms so I know where they will be. Then bolt some big mounts onto the floor pan to connect the front of the arms to? This hould reduce the amount of stick the spring mounts get eh?
I just wondered if any of you have used this sort of DIY 4 link kit?
Thanks
Perry

what shocks are you planning on using mate?
send me your email I have some pics/info from a guy who made his own 4-link kit for the 'B, might be useful r.e. brackets etc etc.
I'm also pretty interested in fitting something like this to my SD1 axel (could use a modified Watts linkage instead of the panahrd i reckon).

There is a great guy here in the US who has just introduced a 4 link kit for the MGB (not affiliated). They have been testing it for quite a while and it’s supposed to be pretty bullet proof and capable of handling the 400+ lb/ft of torque from the big Ford and Chevy engines. At $1103 US it’s pricy but the article below may provide some good ideas.

That's a good link I've not seen that before. Looks like a triangulated 4-link? Nice idea of using the brackets on the axels.
I'm sure you could get the kit without the shocks (which are the biggest single expense in the kit I assume) - and buy Gaz or similar over here.
Plus, if there are a few interested we could split postage heheh . . .

Re: 4 link kit for rear live axle.
I was looking at a four bar kit in a Kit car mag a couple of days ago, and it sold for probably less than you could make it for yourself.mgbv8 wrote:I'm wanting to make a home brew 4 link kit for the live axle on my MGB.

I went down this route once before, but sourcing the tube, the bushes, the threaded adjusters, the right sized this and that was a nightmare, so I bought the bars themselves and made the bracketry/ myself. it is an old Jago hot rod chassis I am reworking, hence the new and old chassis members.
Here's the one I'm currently building, the bars are from Pete and Jakes in the USA, but the bracketry is all my own work.
Nice one Paul thanks.
Oh for a car with a proper chassis....

Is that normal mild steel box section or something special?
