LT77 box pops out of reverse

Post by russ spake »

Hi, I have an early SD1 V8 with an LT77 fitted in my Stag and the box pops out of reverse occasionally. Anything I can do without exchanging/stripping the box e.g. new high grade oil? Thanks. Russ

Russ, replacing all the bushes on the remote control assembly will probably solve it. If not, consider the radical approach mentioned here:

Ramon,

Thanks for the suggestions, do you know where I can buy a set of new bushes? - you're right the other option does sound drastic, but I may go there if the bushes don't sort the problem! Russ

Russ, I would think Rimmers would have them, but the LT77 was used popularly elsewhere, so you might try a regular motor factor or gearbox specialist from yellow pages.

Regarding the Radical solution, I did my box 12 years ago and it transformed it. Made two complete oil changes since and it is still as good as ever. Others in the SD1 Forums community can testify.
