MGB V8 Clutch Cover Queerie

Post by tetlow »

I am fitting my std MGB V8 clutch and have noticed the Clutch Cover does not have a boss in the centre. This is the boss that the release bearing pushes on.
I thought it is missing as my MGC clutch cover ( used on the old conversion assy) has the centre boss, but after looking at the drawing of the clutch cover on the box there is no boss there.
Can anyone enlighten me please.
Surely the release bearing does not push on the bare fingers.

this is par for the course for many years now. Most modern release bearings are designed to be in constant contact so there shouldn't be any wear. In reality there is but in my experience its usually the bearing itself that gives out before the pressure plate.
