Re: On the hunt for the elusive Thor flywheel
Looking at images, the drillings although a little odd, I still see it as a 58-2 trigger ?
Wouldn't be too hard to run a normal flywheel and add a 58-2 wheel to the front pulley and run off that
ALthough there are some on ebay

Re: Bellhousing for Mazda mx5 box to Rover V8
Why the Mazda box ? Doesn't seem like an ideal or common swap ? Surely a BMW box would be more common ? Or Toyota, or something I think Jim at www.jrv8.co.uk was doing some Getrag conversion stuff a while back. No idea who he is, or what box, it just popped up in a search https://www.facebook.com/ph...

Re: Oil Warning light on !
you'd be surprised at the pressure drop across a filter at times. When cold, often it will be bypassing simply because of the thicker oil. I've never understood upside down filter mounting. It's just so idiotic on every level. Even normal upright mounts always spill oil....but who on earth thought u...

Re: Oil Warning light on !
I would totally disagree. Where possible, always fill the filter. so called unfiltered oil is a moot point. Most filters have an internal bypass, so you can be sure at times will be bypassing regardless. So a little drop of new clean oil is of no concern. After 3 minutes, you most definitely should ...

Re: Oil Warning light on !
If you're priming with the drill, you would easily feel when it is lifting oil and making pressure. Obviously the drill will slow as it's working harder with more resistance against it Options depend on what tools you have available. I've used a vacuum pump before on an oil gallery to try and assist...

This is the entire reason you would prime with the drill.Biffdiff42 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 31, 2023 10:21 am
Is there ay chance that the oil pressure light will go out when using the electric drill option, if it does pick up the oil?

Re: Oil Warning light on !
Well you've already tried 1 out of 3 spade terminals down there.
I'd try the farthest one first. The closest one looks like a primitive pressure sender, not a switch.

Re: Battery
I would imagine just go to any local motor factors and tell them you need a battery ?
Either take the old one, show them the old one and just get the same fitment as what is currently there ?

Re: camshaft for high compression engine
Depends how the higher CR is achieved. You just need to check piston to valve clearance if it has any decent sort of lift in case there might be contact.

Re: Oil in exhaust manifold ...
Explain better. So are you saying there is blue smoke from the exhaust ? smoke from elsewhere ? Is it using a lot of oil ? Is it all the time, under load ? off throttle ? other ? History....presumably it did not always do this then ? Or have you no knowledge of history ? What do the plugs look like ...

Re: Plug leads - is thicker better?
Most are just more insulation. Some OEM Toyota leads are like a skinny 6mm or so, they look ridiculous. But they work. I think there's a lot of faff about leads. As long as they're decent quality, I doubt any of them will see massive jumps in power against another. Some ignition systems state they n...
