I thought I would share a progress update. The car has some good and proper poke now with an ignition map with a decent amount of advance!

Hello everyone, I wanted to share some more progress photos with you. Bonnet modifications undertaken. Amazingly the engine fit without needing to cut any of the structure of the bonnet. I thought I was going to need to do some major surgery! http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a16/stirlsilver/Discover...

Some nice work there - but like others, I think they are going to really struggle. Have you considered boxing in the lower part of the intercooler then some duct work to draw air from the wheel wells? Here's my musings when I had the same problem: http://www.mez.co.uk/turbo8a-new.html Hi Eliot, tha...

Stirling, that's some serious work going on there...it's not an ideal design but I see no reason why it should not work with correct tweaking. Here are some notes that I hope will help. Thank you for you very constructive feedback Andrew! 1. Are you having open vents above/near the TMIC fans? If no...

Presumably it's going to be a lowish boost setup anyway, so air temps may not be a big concern ? I was thinking of aiming for about 12-14 psi of boost. For some reason the engine builder still insisted on 8.3:1 compression ratio despite only using Lpg as a fuel why normally has a higher octane valu...

Thanks for the feedback guys. Yes, I'm completely aware of the drawback of using a top mount intercooler and it soaking heat from inside the engine bay. That is partially dealt with by having thermal insulators which I designed and later I'll add some extra insulation on the underside of the cooler ...

Custom top mount intercooler for twin turbo
Hi all, I just wanted to share some progress of some work I had been doing for the last 6 years. I'm on the fun part at the moment which is the engine (I cut down a land rover discovery into a Ute, you can read more on the AULRO forum if interested). 4.0L four bolt block T hat liners 4HP22 with 4HP2...

Any turbo charged engine has a CR of less than 9.5 (ish) and that is engines that are designed to take boost, but NA engines you need to drop it slightly further, especialy an old design engine! 9.2:1 normaly allows you to run up to 10psi boost pressure Thanks for the info. Is this for a petrol eng...

Jono Thanks for the feedback, I went back and revisited the garrett boost advisor (shown below), but this time I enabled an intercooler of 70% efficiency (which I am not sure yet what a 70% efficient intercooler means). When I was playing around earlier, it obviously made a big difference. Also, th...

Rover v8 3.9 Twin Turbo Build - Turbo Selection
Hello everyone, it has been some time since I have used this forum now. However, I'm in a position where I would like a reality check on my work of selecting a turbo. Note: I have checked through all the posts in the Forced induction section, i've seen that subaru turbos are a good option. For anyon...

Very nice job. Not sure about a suck through turbo, you'll definitely need a blow-off valve for those inevitable backfires!! Chris. Yeah, that is the scary part of it all, I suppose I would need to have something like that to relieve the pressure from a back fire... One thing I know for sure though...

Wow nice work, could you fit a fan type blade just after the ring to stir up the mix? Maybe even a round plate with a couple of big louvre type slots would work... Yeah you could do that, but then you are simply reintroducing restrictions that this design would have eliminated... I suppose a better...

should the vapourizer be facing east west rather than north south this might help when acc. or braking hope this helps Yeah I did notice this actually. If you ever did an emergency brake, the engine would get flooded with LPG and cut out on you... Never thought about the leaning out effect on accel...
