Just had it cranking over (no power to coils) but no oil pressure, although I only cranked it for a couple of seconds, so a job for Saturday is to pull the plugs, check oil levels and see if I can get some pressure... Then I may put some fuel in and watch it piss all over the garage floor :-)

Got to agree. I ordered an ecu from Phil and only when fitting I realised it didn't have the lsx IAC stepper control. I had a bit of a panic but Phil just said "send it back and I'll sort it". I sent it Monday, it was back by Thursday and the IAC worked first time. Top bloke!

I meant dimensions rather than displacement. I was wondering how "tall" it is.

Errrt... yeah, but that's as pointless as saying the xfr is better than the xf 2.2, or the m3 is better than a 318i. Yes, it may well be, but it's also in a totally different price league altogether and, in effect, incomparable.

Alfa 4C

Ok, I've seen loads of letters in car mags about how the 4C is fantastic, except for the heinous crime of housing a 4 banger in the boot. "It needs a v6" or "should be a v8" or whatever seems to be the opinion. Now Alfa have a history of 4 pot sports. I'm sure I need only mention the words Giulia TZ...

Like the idea of the 5 cylinder turbo Volvo engine. It's an awesome engine in the Focus RS and a little bit different. Me too, sounds a good plan. What's the size of this engine? I like the thought of the S2000 2 litre screamer, but I believe that's a very tall engine, although it may go in slantwa...

Buy one with any sbc, take it out and sell it to someone building a cobra, and drop an ls3 into the rush. That'll give you well over 400hp and save ~50kg in weight and probably cost the same overall.

Why do you want, specifically, an american engine, and, of those choices, specifically a 350 chevy, in a rush? If you were after a cobra rep, I could understand it more, but a rush is more caterham 7 style. You say you want around the 400 horses figure.... that's a lot for a rush. They weigh bugger ...

I read somewhere that the manual box from the 2.7 diesel bolts up to the v8. Not sure if that's true though.

Depends what's going on the other end too. I had to use the 168 when bolting the getrag to my LS as that was the only realistic clutch option, and it would be the same solution if it was an sbc.
