Yees.... japanese and their peak powers, with 2second turbo lags. When do these engines start making power? 5000rpm? How narrow is the powerband? 2000rpm?... Not really all that good horses now... Plus the RB26 block is cast iron so it weights a lot. Its heavier than your cast iron 350 chevys. RB26D...

I remember Paul of V8Tuner saying that he could have the camshaft machined for the retainer plate for little extra money.

Weird? I have never heard of head gaskets failing on a jaguar V8 engine.. They've been quite strong engines so far... but not bullet proof like the AJ6 series engines are.

The 4.6L Crankshaft clearly states 4.6 in it, I have 2x 4.6L cranks and they both say 4.6 in the balance weights. However sometimes they dont say 4.6 in the crank... so only way is to measure the crank in such cases.

You could get a cheap new car for the price of the restoration?

No difference. Only difference is that some of the 3.9L plenums say "3.9" on it.

No its not... it needs an ECU like megasquirt to control the timing.

I have been toying with idea of making my own thicker ARB for the front by first measuring how long rod I'd need. Then turning the ends smaller in lathe so i can fit the existing bushings etc etc.. then making threads for 12mm (or bigger) nuts. Then using a gas welder to heat the bar from the point ...

Hmm... Our old lotus has this wierd wastegate that have a rather large spring inside them. My dad added a spacer under the spring to get more boost from the car. I was rather young at the time so I dont remember how the thing looked like. Maybe you could try the same?

Im thinking about going twin turbo with a 3.9L or a 4.6L and I've been wondering what size turbos are best for little lag. Im not after huge power 400bhp is very much and should be considered maximum goal. How do the T04B's respond in low RPM?

Precision item.....well, you could call it that. Point is, everything should be torqued up where possible, before carrying out any machining work, as so much changes. I still call them a crap engine. In the same way Toyota's MR2 turbo and GT4's are crap engines too. Not sure which goes through head...
